Lenore RS Lim Book Features
Anges Gund Foreword
PSCA is pleased to announce the publishing
of a major artist’s monograph of the works of Filipina artist,
Lenore RS Lim, whom the gallery represents. The 144 page hardback
book features 73 illustrations; a foreword by Agnes Gund, an introduction
by Paul Sharpe, and an impressive academic text on Ms. Lim’s
work and the history of print making in the Philippines by scholar
Ruben Defeo. An interview with the artist by Clint White completes
the text. The book is available through the gallery in its new
location in the West Chelsea arts district.
Agnes Gund, Chairperson Emerita of
the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, writes in her foreword,
”Ms. Lim enchants us with delicate, densely poetic images.
Driven by curiosity and an unbounded love for her medium, she
vigorously seeks out new techniques, while also striving to revive
lost, traditional processes.”
The book encompasses more than a decade
of work by the artist. During this time her career has grown internationally,
having exhibited in several countries including Italy, where she
was included in “Open 2002”. In December 2004, Lim
received the Presidential Medal of Honor from the Philippine government
for her outstanding contribution as an artist of national merit.
Lim is a print maker who explores
the medium in all its facets, especially carborundum monoprints.
She has exhibited at PSCA since its founding in 2001. She will
be included in “Paper and Prints” a two-person show
along with Gloria Garfinkel at PSCA this fall. The show will open
October 4, with a public reception on October 6 from 6 to 9 PM.
The exhibit will be on view through October 29th.
